Good morning.On behalf of the Hopi people, it is my responsibility to be here today to express the Hopi Tribal government and Hopisemon, or Hopi people's opposition to Uranimum exploration and mining around the Grand Canyon. We understand that thousands of new claims have been filed around the Grand Canyon on US Forest Service and BLM lands. These lands are part of our ancestral lands.
Therefore it is my pleasure to be here to express support for the Grand Canyon Watersheds Protection Act. H>R>5583 would protect 1 million acres around the Canyon from Uranimum mining and exploration by withdrawing "the Tusayan Ranger District and the land administered by the BLM in the vicinity of Rock House Valley and Kanab Creek from entry, patent and location under the mining laws and for other purposes.
The Canyon is a Traditional Cultural Property of the Hopi people. We emerged into this world at the Canyon, known to us as Ongtuvga, or Salt Canyon it is the birthplace of our people.
With our emergenge we entered into a Sacred Covenant with Maasaw[the Earth Guardian] in which it is our responsibility to be preservers and protectors, of Stewards of the Earth. In accordance with that covenant our ancestors migrated to and setteled in these lands, and then migrated from them to Hopi [Tuuwanasavi], the Spiritual Center of the Earth.
AS YOU CAN SEE HERE THE QUEST WAS A WONDERFUL EXPIERENCE FROM ALL INVOLVED AND THE FOCUS WAS ON SIMILAR PHILOSOPHIES FROM AROUND THE PLANET///I DID NOT INCLUDE ALL OF HIS STATEMENTS BUT THIS IS TO GIVE YOU A ROUGH IDEA OF THE CONTEXT OF THE VISION QUEST AND I WILL TRY TO INCORPORATE THE STATEMENTS OF THE OTHERS AS WE GO ALONG.
THIS IS NOT A HALUCINATION MY FRIENDS AND I HOPE THOSE OPF YOU WHO FOLLOW THIS WILL GAIN RESPECT FOR THE PLANET THAT SUPPORTS YOU EVEN IN YOUR RAPING OF HER.
IT IS MY SINCERE HOPE THAT AS I RELATE THE IDEAS OF THOSE INVOLVED AND THE VISIONS THAT WERE PRESENTED THAT I MAY NOT ONLY ENHANCE YOUR RESPECT FOR THE PLANET BUT GET YOU INVOLVED IN PROTECTING HER AND CHANGING SOME OF THE STUPID THINGS THAT ARE HAPPENING..
