I Really Don't Want to Embarrass You

... but this morning, while Aggie was seam sealing the tent, I decided, within my decadent old self, that I could bicycle to Houston by September 21st. I don't care if there are 100 mile stretches without water, I have the power of my Priestess behind me. We will bicycle all the way to Houston.

The route we mapped out with Google bicyle maps this morning takes us from Payson, AZ, to Roswell, NM, to Austin, TX, to Houston. This keeps us mostly out of the hot dry country, and away from major highways. A total of about 1200 miles in 50 days.

Please take another look at our new tent, the Sierra Designs Lightning HT 3. She is the new Casita Hermiticia. We photographed her next to the bike so you can see just how much headroom she gives us.

Incidentally, next time you seam seal a tent, try using a toothbrush to apply the Seam Grip. I discovered that I had a lot more control than with the brush supplied by McNett, and was able to get a nice thin layer.

When a family carries its possessions by human power, it's always great to find items with multiple uses. Here's the solar panel serving as reading table, thanks to the ingenious mounting tube that Cougina found on ebay, which is marketed as a 360 Degree Swivel Wheelchair Umbrella Holder Connector. We are still planning on posting the Daily OOMPH! forecast.
