The Healing Baths

Apartment 96
Our reason for settling in Houston was to have access to a bathtub! That, and to avoid the cuts and scrapes that are a part of bicycling for hours every day. When my (Aggie's) MRSA infection reactivated, it became Cougina's number one action item, and his plan formed around these healing baths.

The MRSA egregor (thoughtform) is powerful. Friends who were familiar with MRSA told us about people they knew who could not prevent recurring infection. One friend was even afraid to have me in her house! While the American doctors we contacted all said that MRSA, once activated, was for life, Cougina located a Chinese herbalist who was claiming a 100% cure rate, not just remission, but total removal. What did we have to lose?

The herbal tincture that we prepared contains several herbs, steeped in alcohol according to a process that has been passed down within a family for generations. The bath process is to add the tincture to a bathtub full of water, and to soak in it for a few minutes. It is important to follow the instructions, because at least one of the herbs is a noted poison. I was to have a bath every three days for six months. (And, hey, what a pleasure after going two months without one!)

Cougina and I have now been taking the baths for almost two months. Until the other day, our only clue to my progress was Cougina's perception that my health aura had returned to its former vibrance.  However, while I am to avoid breaking my skin for the duration of the baths, test time had come. As we were out riding this past week, I got too involved in sightseeing, and forgot to watch for curbs. Splat - I got a couple of minor scrapes. Earlier that day I bumped my right shin into my pedal and got a cut almost identical to the one on my left leg that had produced the second infection. Later that day, I sliced off a thin layer of skin on my finger while slicing a carrot.

Good strawberry!
I treated all of these with alcohol and an over the counter Neosporin type cream. I did not use the strong antibiotic cream prescribed for MRSA. The scrapes on the knee and the cut on the finger have healed just like the old days. (I have never before bothered to do any washing or treating of cuts, taking quick healing for granted.) (Check out that knee in the photo.  A scab or two like this has always reminded me that I am enjoying my life.)

The cut on the shin tells me that the MRSA is not completely subdued. The scab that formed was a little soft, and part of it blistered for a day or two. However, the MRSA seems to be on its way out. The last time this happened, the scab grew to the size of a quarter, and it was with difficulty that I managed to bicycle two miles to the doctor's office, once I realized that it had been around for two weeks.

89 year old Cougina's age spots disappeared from his hands in two baths. Other people have had some wonderful results also. I will write about that next time.

Across Houston to Cypress: Riding in the Rain

We finally got some cycling in. Our friend and student, Nancy, had invited us to stay out in the pasture at her place in Cypress. (Of course, the house and conveniences were all available as well.) So we got Sabrina to give us a ride about halfway, and started riding on the White Oak Bayou trail from around the northwest corner of Loop 610.

It was great to be back on the bikes. It was raining lightly when Sabrina dropped us off, and continued to rain off and on all day. However,we thought it beat riding in the Houston hot sun by a long shot. The White Oak Bayou was beautiful, and we wished we could take it all the way to the end. If you have spent any time on the bayous in Houston, you know that the city seems far away, even though you know that it is nearby, and that there is an open view of those beautiful local cloud patterns.

After the Bayou, we got onto some busy streets. The height of excitement was when we missed the turn on the Google bike route and went over the 249 overpass at Beltway 8. Oops! We ended up on a major freeway. It was an adventure crossing the entrance ramps to get to the next exit, but we made it safely.

The next adventure was when the thunderstorm kicked in. We were on a two lane road with no shoulder, and school had just let out. We pulled the bikes off on the driveway of an empty lot, put on our raingear, and waited it out. I actually enjoyed being in the midst of the storm and the thunder.

After that, it was pretty uneventful. At one point, someone made a right turn into Cougina that forced him to stop for the vehicle. Other than that, the drivers were friendly and courteous. If you live in Houston, you know how stressed drivers are on rainy work days.

The sleeping barn.
We rode on into Nancy's pasture and relaxed. That's the old horse barn, and the red arrow points to the open space where we pitched the tent: Open on both ends to catch the breeze, but protected from the rain, so that no rainfly was necessary. The barn even had electric lighting if we wanted it. We have been loving it!

Cougina's 88th Birthday

There was a most lovely party in Houston to celebrate C's

double infinity (88th) birthday.
We will try to share a little of the action with you.

As usual, C surrounded himself with beautiful women...

But the young men caught some attention also...

C blows! What is that strange auric effect with the light from the row of candles?
This was Cougina's first ever birthday party, and he was truly delighted. Thank you to all!
Blessed be,

Travel Update

Cougina and I want to thank everyone in Phoenix and in Houston for their donations, which help greatly to get our winter season started off on solid financial footing.  Andria and Tom helped spread the word to clients, and Terri. as usual, was an immense help, providing her home, scheduling clients, and even supplying Grolsch, Cougina's favorite beer.

We are in Kansas, sharing my daughter's thirtieth birthday celebration.  I am blessed that I was able to be with my son on his birthday, and now with my daughter and her family on her birthday.  She is a beautiful woman, and I love her so very much!

Cougina is making progress in his West Nile recovery.  He has gone 24 hours without either of the aids he allows himself, Motrin and Power Paks (an electrolyte mix).  He wants me to communicate that Andria's idea of making the smaller tree represent the Earth is a great idea, and that he will elaborate later.

We will be taking a bus ride from Kansas to Phoenix, arriving Tuesday, and from there will head out to the country and resume blogging.

Blessed be,
Aggie
